The Game Genie

“The game that plays the world!”

Those were the big bold letters that appeared in Devon’s game notifications. On closer inspection it appeared as if someone had gifted him a new came for his PC. He clicked it and was immediately caught off guard when a very realistic display appeared on his screen. A spinning globe with hyper realistic depictions of mountains, cities, and people came zooming into his screen before slowly panning back to reveal the game’s title.

“Command?” Asked Devon aloud. “That’s a weird name. Who would send me a game like that?”

As if prompted by his voice his speakers blared with a powerful voice.

“WELCOME TO COMMAND! THE WORLD AND ALL OF ITS RESOURCES ARE AT YOUR DISPOSAL! YOUR WILL BE DONE. YOUR DESIRES MADE REAL. YOUR WISH, MY COMMAND!”

Devon rolled his eyes. “Another indie gamer trying to be the next big thing. I think I’ll save this for after Christmas.” He stepped back from his desk and grabbed his keys. After all he still had a lot of Christmas shopping to do.

-

The mall was at its busiest on Christmas Eve. The only people more miserable than the buyers were the store clerks that had to deal with them. Devon fell somewhere in between. On the one hand he was working, on the other his clothing store didn’t appear to be attracting any customers. He used this time to look at his inventory to see what he could pass off as gifts for nearby friends. However, even the tedium of this proved futile as he quickly got bored, envying all the stressed out people outside who had something to do.

“Gus, you ever wish we worked somewhere more fun? More open?” Devon said listlessly to his co worker. He turned and saw his co worker asleep at the register. He was about to sigh when a wave of dizziness hit Devon as his phone vibrated. He kept blinking, the bright light of their outdoor store seemed out of place. “Wasn’t I just inside?” Devon asked confused. “Come on man. Why would you want to be cooped up inside, when you work near the greatest beach in the world!” came an enthusiastic Gus, who was sweeping sand off the storefront.

Devon had to admit, Gus had a point. There was one heck of a view outside the store front. Although despite the grand view, there was still a lack of traffic to their store.

“I just wish that it was more lively around here, can’t we get any hot guys visiting the store?” Devon complained looking out at the view average guys walking around outside. Another wave of nausea overtook Devon in sync with his phone vibrating.

“Man who keeps buzzing you?” Gus asked with half a laugh when they heard footsteps approaching.

“Hey you guys open?” came a deep voice. As Devon looked up his eyes met the solid pecs of a very handsome man. His eye continued up and he could see one of the hottest guys on the beach! With a sleeve full of tattoos, and an equally hot guy at his side, Devon was speechless. This seemed to make the handsome man in front of him smile.

Gus just shook his head and ushered their customers inside. “Come on man,” he whispers. I can’t having you get all slck jawed for every hot guy that walks through. Our speedo sale has got us up to our necks with these beach guys so we need all hands on deck!”

Confused once again, Devon rubbed his eyes and looked back. From wall to wall their entire store was storming with muscular handsome men of all kinds. Some were fighting over the last speedo in their size, others were shopping with their significant other showing a lot of PDA, and still others were trying on speedos that were obviously too small. An idea that the shop used to be empty came to mind, but Devon was too distracted by all the customers to give it much thought.

After a few more hours of aggressive muscular men asking him questions about all of their beachwear, Devon finished his shift. He check his phone and saw he had a 3 text messages. One from his friend Lin and the other 2 were from an unlisted number that just said, “Granted” on both.

He opened Lin’s message and was confused why his nerdy Asian friend sent him a picture of some sort of pro athlete or bodybuilder.

“Love the new headphones! Did you get my gift?” Lin said through another text.

Devon smiled, knowing Lin needed a new pair, but what was the guy in the picture doing with them.
“1. You’re welcome. 2. What’s with the hot guy? And 3. gift? What gift?” replied Devon.

“The game you goof! Did you change anything yet!? As for the picture, how do you like the new me? I made sure to word my wish carefully so you’d remember the old me still. That game can be tricky! But hey who am I to complain!” replied Lin.

Confusion seemed to be a common theme for today. That is until it all started to make more sense for Devon. The weird memory lapses, the weird game this morning, and now this new picture that Lin sent.

He immediately called his friend. “Hello?” came a phone shaking baritone. “L-lin? Is that really you?” Devon sputtered. “In the flesh bro!” came an insatiably cocky reply from Lin. “I gotta say, when the game asked who it thought deserved to be visited next, I hesitated for a second. But when I knew you got me my favorite brand of headphones, I knew it had to be you! Granted I may not be using them much anymore. I used my first wish to get this rocking body! My second was to be a professional Olympic athlete! My 3rd was for peace in the world. Have you changed anything yet? Be careful the game can change things without you knowing about it! It was super awkward when i woke up in bed with two people trying to suck my dick!”

Lin continued to rant as Devon dropped his phone and did the hardest facepalm. He was so distracted by work that he definitely missed all the “wishes” he made throughout the day. How many had he made? He took a deep breath and thought. “I think I have one left… I better make it count.” He picks up his phone and says, “Sorry Lin, i’ll have to call you back. I’ve got one more wish to make.”

He quickly races back home and sees his computer is still on and running “Command.” On the screen are 2 smaller screens that seem to be phrased, “Better location” and “Hotter customers”. Devon was impressed. “A game that keeps track of the wishes. Genies really took a step up in the 21st century. Anyway, game. I assume you’re listening. I wish I was a handsome muscular man with an exciting and entertaining job that I remember! Oh and a hot boyfriend!” Devon cried out.

There was a flash! At this point he barely felt woozy after this transition. This time he found himself in a gym, lifting something very heavy. A pretty potent musk wafted through the air, that Devon was pretty sure was coming from him. He turned to a mirror and smirked at his appearance. He looked good.

His new appearance had him so turned on right now! He was shirtless, lifting 75lb (35kg) weights with ease, and building up a real pump. Suddenly weightlifting terminology flooded his brain, as well as other information concerning acting, entertaining, and swimming. Devon knew enough about pop culture to realize he was now Jason Momoa!

“Jason! You ready babe? Our modeling gig start in a bit and I think your muscles don’t need any more pumping. You’re just gonna make me look bad,” came a smooth voice from behind him.

“Yo-you’re Joe Manganiello!” Devon/Jason boomed in his new commanding voice. “And you sir, are getting too sweaty for your own good,” Joe said walking towards Devon/Jason and kissing him passionately on the lips. “It’s a good thing your musk smells so good. Now come on. That body of yours is too good for me not to share it with the rest of the world.”

The new Jason quickly set the weights down and smiled. His phone buzzed in his pocket with the message. “Gift new game to friend? Y/N”. Jason just smiled as he sent it to his friend Grant. With that he put his phone away and accompanied his new boyfriend to a photo shoot. To his surprise and excitement, it turns out it was a nude photo shoot!
